This is interesting, but is slightly at odds with canon.

During the mermen trial, it seems to have been an expectation of some
that Harry had chickened out and wouldn't show up at all.  Only
Dobby's intervention woke Harry up in time to even be there.  I
presumed at this point that the 'magically binding contract' was
pretty loose.


Sea Change, who, if in Harry's place, would have used my forced
participation to play Fred-&-George-style elaborate practical jokes
instead of trying to win.
