Meri jumps in: I'm not sure if any one else necesarily had to be
involved for Quirell to attempt to steal the stone. He was, after
all, working closely with LV (though Lord Thingy wasn't residing in
his head yet). LV could very well have helped Quirell master some
dark spell that would have helped the Prof. get past the security of
Gringots. After all, LV could live in the back of Quirell's head for
almost a whole year, practically under the nose of DD, so he must be
skilled, even in vapor form, at deception, and we know that Tom
Riddle was an exceptional student, so there is no cannon need for an
insider.

Meri again: I just don't buy ESE!Bill. There is nothing in his
character, IMHO, that points (like early signs of Percy did) to a
betrayal. There is no logical reason for Bill to turn to LV: he
doesn't appear to be power hungry or violent or ambitious or any of
those things. I am prepared to eat my words, but from what I see
now, there's no reason to believe in ESE!Bill.

Meri - glad to be posting again with the end of term exams coming
up!
