Any "real sleuths among you"? Because I'm not so sure about this one.

The Sergeant Majorette says
I followed the thread along the line, and I decided to get off at
Forbidden Forest Station.
One theory which was glossed over was that, like the Ford Anglia, the
motorbike had gone feral and taken off once Hagrid no longer had an
excuse to operate it. (The Anglia turned up later in the book like
the US Cavalry ex machina to rescue Harry and Ron from the
acromantulae.)
There were too many cheesy plot devices in OoP, mostly affecting
transportation. Quidditch I can buy into, because it's a cool sport,
but has anyone ever seen a pre-Potter illustration of a man riding a
broomstick? Witches, sidesaddle. I didn't care for the Thestrals,
either. Not a hole, precisely, but definitely a dropped stitch in the
plot.
What if the Forbidden Forest is a haven for enchanted vehicles gone
wild? Neville's broom from PS/SS, the Anglia, the motorbike, a gang
of razor scooters, some skateboards, a gently used Fox armored
personnel carrier...
