Not the first  time I've pushed my ideas on this subject.

Snape's motivation?  Revenge.
It's in character and believable not just by posters but by Dumbledore.
And it's personal. He doesn't hate  DEs, just Voldy. Malfoy et al are his
natural friends and buddies, the members of the Order aren't. But that
doesn't bother  him much, his philosophy is that old dictum:
"My enemy's enemy is my friend."

And the reason he hates Voldy? Voldy was responsible for the death of
his family.
