AHA!!  I had seen the portion of this JKR response which 
begins "However, everyone should keep their eye on Snape" many times 
before...but I had forgotten the part where JKR herself says "Snape 
is a very sadistic teacher" and "...teachers do sometimes abuse their 
power and this particular teacher [SNAPE] does abuse his power."  

Does anybody besides me remember the discussion a month or so ago 
about Snape & his teaching methods???  I feel vindicated!  Erm, 
please don't bring up my unfortunate "grade abuse" phrase, though--
just vindicated in the idea that he *is* abusive to his students. ;-)
