Yes, I'd forgotten that. He certainly could have come from Wales 
unless he curved round to avoid towns as the "broomstick gang" did on 
their way to Grimmauld Place in OOTP.

Geoff:
The Fens are an area in Lincolnshire and East Anglia on the East 
coast so I wouldn't personally have made an association with Wales 
from that.

The OED defines fen: >"a low marshy or frequently flooded area of land"<. As such this could occour anywhere, however, Jim's statement that "The Fens" are in East Anglia is essentialy correct.

For interest, there is a place  called "Fairyhill" about a hundred miles from Bristol along the S. Wales coast.
