Whatever, but I think that they'll teach 7th years how to keep anyone 
detecting you're using magic... (House-elves don't know how).

Still, I think they have large detectors to know if there's any 
accidental magic in a Muggle-Area. (why would they bother monitoring 
wizard-habited places? Wizards do magic all the time there) The 
presence of underage wizards in a Muggle-neighbourhood would mean 
more specific detectors. (so that they can even tell what spell was 
used!) I think the detector is located under that stair that creaks...

It obviously doesn't say WHO did it, but they CAN tell what spell was 
used!
