I would be very disappointed in JKR's storytelling ability is the HBP
turns out to be a living human being, either a recurring character or
a brand-new one.  And it's too late in the series to spring a
wizarding royal family on us, even one that might have been
de-throned earlier (Princess Leia, anyone?).

I suspect that the HBP will turn out to be a legend or a legacy about
Godric Gryffindor or a work of art like a painting or a book or
SOMETHING inanimate that Harry encounters.
