Wonderful theory, Kneasy, and as you know I generally agree. But I
have nagging questions:
Why is it only after so many years that an Heir of Slytherin has come
forward? What is so special about Tom? And why would Salazar be so
selective about his "host"?
Sure, JKR could have just written it this way for fun. Or maybe
Salazar decided to wait 1,000 years just because it's a round number.
(Arithmancy, anyone?) Or maybe Tom was the first who would have
said yes? Hmmm. Still, seems a bit vague on these points.
