You could have this both ways. You go into the past to complete the 
objective. If you complete the objective, your now future self has 
no reason to complete the objective, so they don't try to, so the 
whole timeline goes cablooey.

What you have to do is make it look like you didn't complete the 
objective or there is no way you can complete it.

This is about where you could have probably made it a little 
shorter. You only need one person to pretend to be Harry/James and 
cast the patronus to save Harry, so he can go back in time, and save 
himself. 

This is just like the Terminator in that it's cool but sucks in 
reality.
