Snow:

Could it be the name of the plant that has the significance? Remember 
Uncle Vernon with his mimble wimble blurbish in SS, also his demenors 
for dementors in OOP? Vernon may know a bit more than he lets on but 
doesn't exactly remember the correct wording. The plant's name is 
used, as you pointed out, as a Gryffindor password.
