Now Michelle:

I remember in PS/SS Firenze tells Harry in the
Forbidden Forest that "when you slay something as pure
as a Unicorn, you are cursed. That you will live but
only a half-life" (Sorry, paraphrazing a bit). I think
perhaps the same principle would apply to killing
something as innocent as a defenseless baby.
