No living being beyond the Dursleys has a known relationship to 
Harry, as Dumbledore says "They're the only family he has left now." 
The Potters were pureblood, so their branches on all sides would be 
well known in the WW, and Albus would have this information if anyone 
did. DD could have use a modified explanation to MM had there been an 
exception... sticking to 'safest place' or some such. DD has never 
lied, merely presented truth out of context in the closest to an 
exception to that rule at the end of PoA.
