Yes - very good point. But wouldn't you say that this was well and 
truly on the radar already as a possibility? 

Remember, JKR flagged this up as a question that had not come up 
before - "why aren't you asking this..." 

Both the possibilities of Harry having to kill Voldemort and of Harry 
having to die in order to take out Voldemort have been around since 
OOP was published and we knew about the prophecy.

This is what I mean about the feeling there is something to this 
question I am not quite seeing.
