I'll point it out again...

a) alchemy.  In _The Hidden Key to Harry Potter_, author John Granger 
explained how in the alchemical tradition, MERCURY (is this obvious 
enough?) and SULFUR were known as 'the quarreling couple.'

I was reminded recently,

I will actually leave out my own feelings that I got immediately upon 
reading GOF first in the series (then the rest, which I felt led that 
way as well), as to R/Hr... (generally, the Ron likes Hermione canon 
from GOF that we note).
