SSSusan:
I think you're right that Draco is frightened of his father and 
probably somewhat miserable, but I don't see how you can conclude 
that his life has been *loveless*.  Are you positive Lucius doesn't 
love Draco?  Surely he's a tough disciplinarian, but are you sure he 
doesn't love him?  And Narcissa?  Yes, she seems to spoil him to no 
end, but I also got the impression (founded? unfounded?) that she 
loves him very much.
