This is a good point. Sort of like if we chose to do an act of evil
it adds to the evil in the world and somehow gives it more strength.
So for a good person like Dumbledore to to a killing curse on
Voldemort would be playing into Voldemort's hands. .. doing what he
wants him to do.. to do an act of evil. I think the "punishment"
Dumbledore had in mind was something that Voldemort would have
really hated.. something like compassion and love.. It is said that
people in Hell chose to be there, that God does not put them there,
but that they CHOOSE to be there because they can not stand to be in
the presence of an all loving God. So I think that for Voldemort,
something like that would be the most torturous thing he could face.
