I saw that sequence with the mirror as Harry desiring a family not 
specifically uniting with his parents.  All he has to do is marry Ginny 
and he gets a family, one that already loves him quite a lot, 
brothers-in-law who are already very much brothers-in-arms, if not faux 
bros. now.

Quite well planned out, that, I'd say.
