"Why didn't DD kill LV in the DoM" has also been
explained from DD's own lips.  And it makes sense: Dumbledore knows
there is only one that can destroy LV - Harry.

       You must not have read the rest of the interview where JKR says that
we should have asked why DD did not try to kill LV and that the answer he
gave is NOT the real answer. :-)
