Looking at the names of the previous 5 volumes, none of the titles
referred to any character or item that was introduced in a previous
book (with the exception of a very cursory reference to Sirius Black
in the SS). I see no reason to think that JKR will forego a winning
formula, ergo the HBP will be a new character or a very minor one from
previous books and, I am willing to bet, an adult.
