The possibility does exist that the HBP could be someone new (JKR is known to introduce new characters to the HP universe) -- I have considered that myself... but I like the Lupin thought better so I'll stick to it for now but I'm always open to new thoughts.....  How about Shaemus Finnegan?  Isn't he a half-blood?  Didn't he say so in the first book?  He and Harry did have a parting of ways of sorts in Phoenix.... even though they made up in the end....  Just another thought.....
