  A more apt example would be countries around the world resisting 
change and modernity saying that it is a threat to local culture, or 
resisting pizzas and jeans  (and sex )saying that globalisation is 
americanisation or resisting democracy saying that it is a "western" 
concept.
  Come to think of it, the herd of centaurs looks strikingly similar 
to the sheikhdom of Saudi Arabia or the mullahs of Iran.
