Yes, she is close to a year older, and I am glad to see
this! ;)

I clung stubbornly to this opinion, even after JKR confirmed the dvd
timeline, which would have made Hermione a year younger.

But seeing JKR and her relationship with math, I always
thought there was a good possibility she didn't realize the
implication.
