What if he did?
 
When JKR posed the question we should have been asking, "Why didn't  
Voldemort die?", she said we might be able to guess the answer.  What if  it's one or 
two doses of the elixir?
 
This would tie in to another question of mine:  The Potters and  Longbottoms 
escaped personally from Voldemort three times apiece.  We know  from OOP and 
JKR herself that Voldemort doing murders and dirty work himself is  very rare 
(Dorcas Meadowes is "special" because of it)  Did he go after the  Potters and 
Longbottoms himself after the DE's had failed? Or did they come to  him for a 
rescue mission like Harry.....the rescue of the stone.
