Renee:
Adults have failed Harry before in various ways, though never as 
spectacularly as in OotP. But IMO the main difference between Book 5 
and the previous books is that 
1) Harry sees it more clearly now and
2) before OotP it was Harry who saved the day all the time, with the 
help of his friends. This time he's among the failures. A huge step 
towards becoming an adult.
