Someone help, because I can't find the quote, but didn't JKR say
something (answering queries about the themes being age appropriate
for children) that basicaaly stated she was writing the story that
was in her, without purposely dumbing it down for kids, but that she
felt the average 9 year old would be able to handle it?
I wish I'd had these books when I was nine, instead of Sweet Valley
High!
