It isn't proof, I agree.  Just suggestive.  When JKR repeats 
something, we should notice it.  I'll stick with the "better than 50-
50" chance and leave it there.

BTW, I knew perfectly well Dumbledore means "bumblebee," I don't know 
what I was thinking. I was tired, I guess.

Was Dumbeldore in fact McGonagall's teacher?  Maybe.  I don't know 
who else it would have been.  With McGonagall as Assistant 
Headmistress, does this mean that Transfiguration teacher is the 
first among enquals of the staff? I believe it is.
