This is a very interesting point.  Is this perhaps the reason that 
Sirius had to die in the way that he did?  Perhaps the only way to 
truly "vanquish the Dark Lord" is to send him through the vail to the 
other side, body, wand, and all.  I realize this would eliminate the 
possibility that Sirius could ever return either but it seems that 
his death could have more than one lesson.  If this, in fact, is the 
only way to eliminate Voldemort then the trip to the MOM, Sirius's 
death would not have been in vain.
