For some reason, and I never understood this, but for some
reason "_________ for President" is something seen on signs at
baseball games quite frequently in the US. As a Boston native I have
seen signs with "Pedro for President" (refering to Pedro Martinez, a
Red Sox starting pitcher). I don't know where the tradition comes
from, but I think that it is just a sign of support for a star
player.
