Glasses didn't protect Moaning Myrtle from the basilisk. She wasn't
just petrified; she died. And presumably, since her ghost wears
glasses and she was coming out of a stall to investigate the presence
of a boy in the girls' restroom, she was wearing her glasses when she
died. Maybe Harry's glasses are special in some way but I doubt it
since he acquired them from Muggles.
