I wonder with the prejudice against Slytherin as the house from which
all dark wizards/Voldemort supporters spring, if its Snape's position
as head of Slytherin that is another drawback to his holding the DADA
job. While the old saying is that "it takes one to know one" I
wonder if there would a feeling of suspicion among parents and the
Board of Governors that a Slytherin might not really teach a non-
  slytherin to 'defend' adequately.

Me (Plush):
I just want to make a note of what Julie said about parents and the board of Governers being prujudice against Snape. I agree with most of this, but I had to point out that Hagrid tells the trio that the Board is in "Lucius Malfoy's pocket" in the third book. As Lucius was a Slytherin and seems to have a connection with Snape, the nature of which is mostly yet to be discovered. Other than that, though, I agree with her on everything.
