When Lupin was looking at the map and saw Peter with Harry, Ron, and
Hermione, Snape was presumably in his office or lab or wherever, just 
about to realize that Lupin hadn't had his Wolfsbane potion that day. 
He had not yet "entered the fray," as it were. I imagine if Lupin had 
looked at Snape's office or lab, he'd have seen Snape's dot there.

What I was trying to say was:  Why didn't Snape see Peter in the map?
