The Sergeant Majorette (who became a Viktor Krum fan due to her
addiction to Balkan folk music) says
Wisdom and benevolence?? Not hardly, except in the sense that Vlad
Dracula is known as a Romanian patriot.
Khan Krum the Terrible is known as the founder of the Bulgarian
nation, but is chiefly famous for having the skull of an enemy silver
plated and using it as a goblet to drink human blood.
To be fair, though, it seems that having some sort of grotesque
cruelty attached to your legend was a political imperative back then
in that area of the world.
