But how did she know how to do it and where to find it? Since it is 
Hermione - from a book, I suppose. ;) Harry didn't know until Hagrid 
showed him, since there wasn't a description handed in with the 
invitation Harry got. Same about getting to platform 9 3/4.

Perhaps there normally is a description sent to muggle-born 
wizards/witches. Harry just didn't get it because Hagrid accompanied 
him.
