Whizbang here:  

I'm inclined to agree that a Riddle / McG relationship doesn't seem 
likely.  I do wonder if McG is related somehow to Hermione, though, 
perhaps by marriage.

As for Riddle, you have all probably discussed this repeatedly in 
the past, but we don't hear of many wizards by only one name.

What if Grindelwald's first name was Marvolo.
