Dean Thomas, HBP...?

Hello everyone,
  
It's a while since I've posted, but I am going to keep this short 
despite.

Has anyone put forward that Dean Thomas could be the half blood 
prince? We found out via JKR's web-page that his real father was a 
wizard who was killed by Voldemort, but that Dean himself was raised 
by his muggle mum and step-dad.

We also know that Dean was originally going to be in on the 
adventure with fluffy in the first book. True, he was not, but still 
that indicates that he is probably a more important character than 
most people thought.

That fact that it is widley believed that Dean is muggle-born would 
also make it more of a suprise.

Anyway, this is a little late-night speculation, but I would like to 
know what other people think.
