I agree, and I'm sure Moody had their route planned.  On top of that, he had
that disillusionment charm going, definitely on Harry, possibly others had
some form of it on either themselves or their brooms.

They were obviously flying very high for it to be so cold...temperature
drops about 10 degrees every thousand feet, give or take.
