Hum. James - yes, he probably was, but I can't see Sirius doing a 
Greyfriars Bobby or a replay of Ulysses faithful hound.

The money - didn't JKR say that he'd inherited it? Or has my memory
gone wonky again?
Sirius suggested (or said he did) that Peter become SK, though why 
James and Lily went along with it is a mystery.
But GH and the cloak, especially the cloak. Why give it to DD? It seems
to be an eminently useful piece of kit to have around if you think that
you're going to be attacked. Presumably it was handed over before they 
went into hiding - why?
