Snape Question

How do you pretend to be a DE?  Voldemort doesn't seem like the kind 
of guy that would just let his people sit on the side lines while he 
did all the killing. In fact, Voldemort often has his DEs do the 
dirty work for him. 

I like Snape's character but I see him as a bad guy.  Even if he is 
on the good side now, I'm pretty sure he has done some despicable 
things in the past.  I'm worried that Harry's gut feeling about Snape 
is going to turn out to be right.
