I'm new to this so I'm sorry if I don't follow all the rules right.  
You might have hit on something here.  I don't think that you need to 
be pureblood to be in Slytherin.  After all Voldermort was in 
Slytherin but he's half blood.... Makes you wonder huh?  :)
