I have to agree with you Geoff.  It has been my
experience that boys don't tend to notice girls (who
are usually trying to get their attention) until the
later teens (17 maybe).  I feel like the image is
good, the girls are showing interest earlier than the
guys, which shows the maybe stereotypical thought that
girls just mature faster than guys do, and that Harry
is just one of those guys.
