Jen: There's the whole issue of a corporal patronus being cast,
which seems to indicate a non-corporal patronus exists as well. But
like Alla, I don't think Lupin has a problem with his Patronus ;). I
suspect it's either a plot device as Alla said, or powerful wizards
do not have to cast a corporal Patonus to get the job done. Facing
only one Dementor, Lupin may only need to blast a bit of silvery
stuff for the Dementor to move on.

Jen: Aack--Lupin sounds so pathetic from your description, Carol! He
impressed me from the beginning as very powerful, but not in a
flashy way. The magic we do see Lupin perform is almost effortless,
much like Dumbledore. Like creating a handful of flames without a
word and vanishing a Boggart 'lazily'. He only mutters the
incantation to create the Patronus on the train. And I think there's
more to come.
