Along those lines, do you think Malfoy was deliberately targeting 
the Weasleys and/or Harry?  Would he have snuck the diary in 
anyone's bag or was he waiting for Ginny (the first Weasley girl) to 
come along? Or a chance at Harry?  We suspect from his comment that 
he had "business" to attend to that day, that he had plans to plant 
the diary on *somebody*!
Perhaps LV had left him instructions, or told him what was in the 
diary and what it might do.
