I'm sitting here watching the ABC Family showing of Harry Potter and the
Sorcerer's Stone movie and it suddenly occurred to me that the sorting hat
does seriously consider putting Harry into Slytherin. We also know, from the
Sorting Hat's New Song in OoP, that Slytherin house only takes pure-blooded
wizards. Putting two and two together I come out with Harry being considered
a pure-blood wizard, suggesting that the mere fact that Lily was in fact a
trained wizard nullifies the fact that she, herself, was muggle-born.

For reference, here are relevant quotes from out of the "Sorting Hat's New
Song" (p205, US edition):

------
Said Slytherin, "We'll teach just those
Whose ancestry is purest."
...
These differences caused little strife
When first they came to light,
For each of the four founders had
A House in which they might
Take only those they wanted, so,
For instance, Slytherin
Took only pure-blood wizards
Of great cunning, just like him,
------
