Without speculating about Sirius' reasons for ding what he did, 
without reiterating once again about "bad blood" between Sirius and 
Snape, I will partially agree with you:


Unless we learn that Snape was under Imperium curse, he had NO 
BUSINESS going into Shack, absolutely NONE.


He was desperate to learn Lupin's secret to have them all expelled?

Well, he got more than he bargained for. No, he did not deserve to be 
eaten by Werewolf, but if he went into Shack of his own free will, he 
was WRONG in doing so.
