No, but Snape could have made a little detour by one of the entrances.
Nobody was there to prevent him to do that, Sirius, Harry and Hermione
were unconscious. He truly *had* a chance to do it. Yet, he didn't do it.

Though if you ask me, I think he didn't do it because he knew Fudge
would anyway.
