This confused me at first too. By 3 Riddles I also thought Tom and his
parents at first (which does have interesting possibilities regarding
the Tom->Voldemort transformation) but if you think about it for a
minute, it can't be. Since Tom's mother is dead, his father abandoned
both of them, and the Riddles were "older", meaning it was Voldemort's
father and grandparents that got killed.
