I like this distinction between the animagus form and the Patronus --
 it seems to hit the nail on the head.  And that makes me think that 
Snape's Patronus should be a bumblebee (Dumbledore)! :-)

Of course, I don't really think it is that, since I don't see how 
that would give anything away.  But Dumbledore certainly is some 
sort of Protective-figure for Snape (and for a lot of others, of 
course).

Just a funny thought... I'd love to see a giant white bumblebee 
charging down a host of Dementors, anyway...

Actually, in FB, a Patronus is also listed as a way of repelling a 
Lethifold (in fact, it's described as the only known way of 
repelling a Lethifold).
