In the Am HB p 514 it says:
"'My son and his wife,' she (Mrs. Longbottom) said, turning 
haughtily to Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Ginny, 'were tortured into 
insanity by You-Know-Who's followers.'"
That should clear up the confusion.
