kandbmom:I wondered about this a couple of weeks ago and came
to the conclusion that because the Longbottoms were aurors, they were
probably out and about leaving Neville with Gran to protect him. It
has never been said why the Longbottoms were tortured I believe that
the LeStranges knew about the prophecy. They were the closest DEs to
Voldermort. I think they were at the Potter home with a whole group
of DEs and after the curse back fired and vanquished LV I think they
thought they must have to get the other child to reverse the effect.
I think the Crucio was meant to get Frank and Alice to tell where
Neville was and that it didn't work. I think that DD was probably
the secret keeper for the Longbottoms thus, Neville was never found.
